Not a Dry Spell

On Saturday, I saw The Hunger Games: Mockingjay part 1. It was nothing short of amazing. It exceeded my expectations. Other part 1’s that I’d seen – Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and Breaking Dawn – were so dry they were almost boring. Hardly anything happened. But not Mockingjay. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. It wasn’t what I pictured in my head; it was better than I could’ve ever imagined.
I thought District 13 would have more of a futuristic look; I seem to have forgotten that the District went underground after the Dark Days. Once I was reminded of this, all the brown and other neutral, earthy tones made sense.
And Peeta – Oh my God. Josh Hutcherson’s makeup was amazing. And he really got into character. I can’t say too much or else I might spoil. The emotions were real and raw throughout the entire movie.
It followed the book as far as I could tell, although my memory is a bit fuzzy because I haven’t read the book in a while. It’s definitely a must-see.
