One night while I was still on break, Mom and I were driving home – I don’t remember where we had been – and “Geronimo” by Sheppard came on the radio. The DJ had already mentioned the artist and title, but I put Siri to the test anyway.
When I first heard it, I didn’t know what to make of it. A few days later, it was still stuck in my head, and I liked it. So as soon as I got my hands on an iTunes card, I bought it – while I was in the middle of Fangirl. It would only make sense that the song and the book would overlap, since I was occupied with both at the same time, but I realized it was more than timing the the two had in common. The more I listened to Geronimo, the more I was reminded of the the core of Fangirl: New experiences with new people, and having the courage to face a new chapter in life without leaving one’s past completely behind.
Together, this song and this book are amazing.
