In a Parallel Universe …

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away …

No, this isn’t about Star Wars.  Sorry if I disappointed you.  It’s about David Muir and World News Tonight.  Yes, him again.

At the end of the news, during the “Instant Index,” he announced that The Sound of Music had been around for 50 years.  Like wow.  He went on to say that the movie was almost called Love Song, but people felt that was too generic.  I can’t help but agree.

Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer weren’t the first choice for Maria and Geyorg, either.  They were considering Audrey Hepburn and Doris Day for Maria, and Sean Connery for the Captain.  (No, he’s not Kenickie from Grease.  I had to think about that for a bit).

I’m glad it ended up as we know it.  It wouldn’t be the same if it was any other way.  It would be weird.  But if it was made with other people or called something different, we probably wouldn’t know.  Still, that movie without Julie Andrews would be tragic.  I can’t even.  It would be so wrong on so many levels …  And Christopher Plummer is too handsome to be overlooked …
