Beauty and the Beast (2017)

Over spring break, I went to see Beauty and the Beast.  It was actually two times in the making; I thought I had plans to see it opening weekend, but they fell through.  Needless to say, I was disappointed.

Anyway, I’m just going to assume we’ve all seen the 1991 Disney version and jump right into this review.

Overall, I really liked it.  Visually, it was beautiful.  As far as the CGI though, I think I prefer the original animation.  It’s not that it was bad, it just took some getting used to.

Emma Watson CAN SING!  Then again, what can’t she do?  I really enjoyed all the songs.  I think they used some from the Broadway adaptation, because I didn’t remember them from the original movie.

The storyline was really interesting because it started at the beginning.  They showed the witch placing the curse on the prince, something we didn’t get to see in the original.  We also saw what happened to Belle’s mom, and that’s something we hardly ever get to see in any Disney movie.  Either the main characters have mothers, or they don’t.  There’s no in between.

If you get the chance to see it soon, do it.  You won’t regret it.

In other news, I ship Emma Watson and Dan Stevens.  They play Belle and the beast respectively, and they’re adorable together.
