Music and my Writing

Every time that you get undressed, I hear symphonies in my head.  I wrote this song just looking at you, yeah the drums they swing low, and the trumpets they go …

Relax.  I promise you this isn’t about to get raunchy.

The part of the refrain that I’m going to focus on is, “I hear symphonies in my head.  I wrote this song just looking at you …”

Sometimes, when I’m listening to a certain song – or certain songs, for that matter – visuals pop into my head.  Scenes that I can use for the novel(s) I’m working on – complete with dialogue.  It might be similar to the story behind Lorde’s “Green Light,” but I’m not sure.

All I know is that music somehow triggers my imagination.  And my imagination is obviously a valuable tool.  It took me a long time to see it that way.  I used to try and hide it because I thought people would think I was weird if they knew what went on inside my head.

No more.  Music and my imagination – and therefore my writing – go hand in hand.
