Ghostwrite – to write for and in the name of another*
I’ve always had an idea of what ghostwriting is, of course, I just don’t understand the point of it.
Writing a book is no easy feat, but that doesn’t mean it’s impossible. Why put your name on a book if you didn’t actually sit down and write it? I mean, if people knew that someone did that, it would probably be considered false advertising as I understand it.
I mean, I can understand having an outsider edit your book because grammar can be a tricky thing, but people should at least try to do the actual writing of it before passing the buck to someone else.
A ghostwriter is just another person you have to pay to get something done. Wouldn’t it be cheaper if people actually did their own writing? And what about the sense of accomplishment one gets from writing something? Don’t people want that satisfaction for themselves?
Maybe it’s because I’m a writer, but the concept of ghostwriting just seems foreign to me.
