Shakira just dropped a new music video yesterday, and I’m in love with it:
I’ve been waiting for her to drop this one forever. “Perro Fiel” is one of my favorite songs on her new album, so I was disappointed when I couldn’t find a music video at first.
This song means a lot to me because one of the lyrics is
tú me confundes, no sé qué hacer.
Which is translated as:
You confuse me; I don’t know what to do.
And that, my friends, is exactly how I feel right now. I’ve got family stuff going on, I don’t have a job yet, etc. I know what I want, but I don’t know how to get there, and it seems like no one wants to help me navigate life. It’s really frustrating. I thought people wanted to help me. At least they said they did.
But this song helps me cope. I know I’m not alone. If Shakira can write a song about it, she’s probably dealt with some of the same stuff. And that means a lot.
Of course, I’d have to look at the other lyrics to get a clear picture of the song, but I do know this: “Perro Fiel translates to “loyal dog”. I had a feeling that that’s what it was, but I got confirmation from the music video. “perro” means “dog” and there are dogs in the music video. They’re only in one scene, but still. Shakira can’t go wrong with puppies.
