As it’s the first day of National Novel Writing Month, or NaNoWriMo for short, my goal this month is to work on my novel every day.
Because honestly, I started writing this in 11 grade, and I need to finish it, because I want to see it – and its sequels – published. Preferably sometime in the near future.
Last year was my first year participating in NaNoWriMo. I figured it would be a good way to keep me on track towards finishing my novel. It worked – for awhile. At some point, I lost my momentum. I could attribute it to the fact that I was busy with school because November is crunch time before Fall semester finals, but that wasn’t the only reason I fell behind. I felt like I was running out of ideas. My creativity was stalled. It was a major writers block.
And yes, writer’s block is a thing. At least for me. My imagination isn’t an on-demand thing. Inspiration comes to me randomly; I need to get better at writing my ideas down.
The good thing is, I’m not busy with school at the moment. I’ll have more of a routine, as I started a job yesterday. And blogging every day is still a goal for me. So hopefully inspiration and my imagination won’t elude me. But I don’t think it will. I can do this.
