I know tomorrow’s Thursday, but I have to throwback today.
For my 18 birthday, Mom (sort of) surprised me with a trip to New York for five days. It was really fun. But my favorite part was this picture. Our hotel was right across from Good Morning America, so on Thursday of that week (I think) we decided to walk over and see what was up.
And then this happened. Josh Elliott, the newsreader at the time, came right up to me and said, “Can we take a picture please?” Of course I said yes. I wasn’t going to pass up a picture with one of my role models.
My uncle took the picture. I couldn’t believe it. I was so happy. We hugged after the picture, and I didn’t want to let go. Sam Champion, the chief meteorologist at the time, also gave me a high-five.
I say “at the time” because both men have since left ABC. When I found out that Josh had left, I was kind of sad. I wish I could keep up with what he’s doing these days
It really meant a lot to me, because my dream job is to work for ABC News in New York. I just have to figure out how to get there. Someday. I’m definitely not going to give up.
