IMDB Summary:

Debbie Ocean gathers an all-female crew to attempt an impossible heist at New York City’s yearly Met Gala.

This movie was really good.  Clever, in fact.  Kind of hard to follow because it wasn’t really clear what their post-heist end goal was, but then again, they didn’t really need one.  Debbie (Sandra Bullock) and her crew were just in it for the money and the fun of it.

Although Debbie is Danny Ocean’s sister, the movie didn’t really have anything else to do with the rest of the franchise.  Which is really nice, because the movie wasn’t relying on the audience having prior knowledge.

This was also, somewhat surprisingly, laugh-out-loud funny.  It was a mixture of physical and verbal comedy.

Helena Bonham Carter’s character, Rose, is like the Nickelback song, “Rockstar,” except she’s the washed up, has-been dress designer whose role in the heist goes unnoticed because her fame has waned.  The one tricky character though, was Daphne Kluger (Anne Hathaway).  Like, why couldn’t Anne Hathaway just play herself?

They did have a number of people who appeared as themselves, including but definitely not limited to Kim Kardashian West, so that was cool.

If a funny movie about organized crime sounds interesting, don’t pass this one up.
