Harry Potter and the Sacred Text is one of my favorite podcasts.
Vanessa Zoltan and Casper ter Kuile take their audience on a seven book journey, treating the Harry Potter series as if it were a sacred text. They use different religious practices to analyze a passage from the chapter they’ve just read for that week – that is to say, every week is a different chapter. Their discussions are very interesting; although I don’t always agree, sometimes I find myself wondering if I could’ve done the same level of analysis myself.
But, I have a small problem: I’m not yet caught up with the podcast, because one day my phone decided to go crazy and delete ALL the podcasts I’d been listening to, so I had to re-download all the podcasts and episodes I wanted to listen to. And, I’m a book behind them. They’ve just finished Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and I’m not even halfway through Harry Potter y el prisionero de Azkaban yet. Yes, I’m rereading the series in Spanish, so it does take a bit longer.
That being said, sometimes it gets confusing going from reading one book to listening to analysis about another. Not to mention switching between English and Spanish. But I don’t feel like re-downloading all of the Prisoner of Azkaban episodes. So I guess I’ll just have to live with it.
